''You can't discover new oceans if you don't leave sight of the shore."

The First Mate Journal Entries©     ....

Well, Wayne just brought it to my attention that our cast off day is 8 months from today… A little while ago we were talking about fear – yes, I do have some fears.  Some of them are valid, some because of the unknown.  It seems strange that I fear the water, but want to take this journey into the unknown. I guess I want to face my fears, and – I want to face me, probably for the first time in my life - I want to learn about me. We bought our little boat a little over 3 years ago when I bought into this dream – a dream of traveling the oceans and learning about this world. Of learning about my partner, my captain, my lifelong companion and more importantly – myself, but at the time we found Kolibrie, I didn’t realize that I was searching for me; or the next chapter in the rest of our lives.  So I guess this journal is about my fears, and hopefully of our journey of discovery - Discovery of each other, and ourselves.  This is “The First Mate’s Journal” – from conception (as I can remember it) to where ever it may lead us.   Since it’s a journal, it's my thoughts, opinions, etc., and it will be a work in progress (like all of us) edited/revised/added to periodically.
